No, toothpaste is not necessary for teeth. In fact, the tooth care industry is a multi-trillion dollar industry benefiting companies manufacturing toothpaste and other teeth care products.

Normal water and a good brush are sufficient to clean your teeth.

I stopped using toothpaste more than four years back and my teeth are very good with no problem.

And I am sure most of the people reading this article would be younger than me and still suffering from tooth problems in spite of using toothpaste regularly.

I also didn't replace it with anything else because other powders etc. may be more dangerous than toothpaste.

In fact, I just fill my mouth with normal water in the morning and clean my teeth gently and properly, using a hard bristled brush.

Also, in addition, I take some salt on my palm and mix to it some drops of any edible oil like coconut or mustard oil and brush my teeth with this once a week. You can do this more than once if needed.

What Is Pyria or Gingivitis?

Pyria or Gingivitis is a gum disease. It is an inflammation of the soft tissue (gum) that surrounds your teeth.

Your teeth develop a thin biofilm layer called plaque throughout the course of the day. This layer is naturally sticky and largely composed of bacteria.

Ingesting the acid that these bacteria in plaque excrete, as they feed on the sugar leads to tooth decay.

This biofilm layer will be eliminated when you brush your teeth, but if the film is not sufficiently removed,
it may start to solidify, especially in the difficult-to-clean spaces in between teeth. A thick, cream-colored film called tartar forms on hardening.

This tartar can subsequently cause gum irritation while also providing bacteria in a comfortable location to hide.

Gum disease results from gum irritation brought on by tartar accumulation. It may lead to bleeding of gums.
